Happy 2010

Photobucket

Hello again, Pasadena Mountain Bike Club members, friends and other mountain bike fanatics,

It's the end of another year and it's time to look back at all of the great rides and times we had and look forward to new adventures in 2010.

2009 featured another epic year of riding, racing and B.O.B. rides. We had lots of new faces come out and ride with us, some old timers come back to the fold and even some welcome new additions to the Hulett and Jehue households. Again congratulations and welcome to future club members. Another highlight was the great turnout and time we had at Mammoth this Summer. It could not have been much better. Except for Nick's Whistler damage and Doug's header at Lower Rock Creek, we seem to have gone through another Summer relatively unscathed. Then this Holiday season we found out that Roger finally proposed to Vanessa and she said, "yes". Congratulations to two of our favorite people in the club (of course I say that about everybody) and we look forward to celebrating your marriage through rides and bachelor parties (plural). Just kidding, Vanessa!

I definitely cannot make it out to all of the rides and I appreciate the efforts of all of our ride leaders especially El Ray, who does a whole bunch for the club. Thanks also to John, Brian, Bob, Doug, Stoner and the rest of the ride leaders. The turnouts have been great and everyone seems to be having a good time. Some club members made a few trips to Bootleg Canyon and the Taco rides seem to be getting popular again also.

2010 should be even more epic as we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Pasadena Mountain Bike Club! We hope to have a commemorative jersey as well as some special events. Check back for more details. The big trip to Mammoth should be awesome again-unless we go somewhere else. Northstar at Tahoe was a suggestion and maybe Whistler in 2011. Maybe we can get out to Moab, Fruita or Crested Butte this year too. I hope to make more rides this year (in between soccer and baseball and Boy Scouts) and am grateful for all of the great rides and new friends I continue to meet even going into my 20th year with the PMBC.

Have a safe and prosperous New Year and Happy Trails to all.

Martin

It was a memorable 2009 and not only my first time joining you guys at Mammoth but also my first time to break a bone, all caught on Facebook, thanks John K.. I joined this club 15 years ago after I bought a Gary Fisher Katai at Pasadena Cyclery when Martin was working there. In 2009 I entered my first DH race, and fell in love with that. Ray put together a nice slideshow to see when I crashed there too. 2009 wasn't just about crashing but, for me, more about having the crashes posted on Facebook. For 2010 I'm looking forward doing more races, camping, going to Mammoth, riding more with PMBC and riding more with my kids too. It's a bummer that we lost our favorite local Brownie/El P  and Sunset trails to the fires but I'm trying not to let that get me down and making an effort to find and ride alternate local trails and go on more road trips. I hope to see you guys on the trails and at the meetings. Lets make 2010 the best ever for PMBC rides, parties and events. Now the pressure on Roger and Vanessa to set a date.

A big thanks goes out to Pasadena Cyclery for giving out PMBC memberships to all customers who bought a new Mtn. bike in 2009.

A lot of new riders took em up on the offer and we've expanded our group quite a bit.

Now speaking of memberships, the beginning of a new year is a great reminder to renew your dues of $10.

You'll never have to guess if your dues are due when you start it right at the beginning of 2010.

Here's to a great 2010.

Hey guys, anyone up for carpooling? I have room for a body plus bike for this Sunday's ride with  Joann. I'm coming from Gardena.
